FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND TROUBLESHOOTING

Q I'm not able to enter my own room with WinMX and my bot's. What is wrong?
A You are most likely behind a router that does not support loopback-connections. Try change the 8 first numbers in your roomname to 0100007F or 0200007F (127.0.0.1 or 127.0.0.2) and enter your room manually (not from channel-list).
If the server is hosted on another computer on your LAN, you will need to connect to the local ip-address. You can use the hash-calculator to find the hash for your room.

Q I used the /channelname command and gave away the roomname to my friends, but none of them are able to enter MyOukaChannel_0100007F1A2B, what is wrong?
A The use of /channelname in the server will in most cases give you the local name of the room, not its public name. Look at the very top of the server, the public name is displayed there.

Q My room says it's online and is connected to several primarys, but seems not show up in my WinMX channel list. Is there another way i can check if my room is public?
A Yes, you can use the Ouka Channel List. The list is not viewed in real time, so wait 10 minutes after you have started your server before you check.

Q My computer and Ouka Server has been running for more than 49.7 days/1192 hours, but the statistics shows a lower number, why is that?
A That is caused by a limitation in the programming language used during developement of the server. When time online exceeds 49.7 days (approx. 1192 hours) time will wrap around to zero. See referance on Microsoft MSDN.

Q Users are claiming they see "stars" every now and then when other users are writing a message, is my server buggy?
A No, that is normal operation, when concealement of commands is enabled. If a user is trying to use a command, and doesn't have permissions to execute, the command will be replaced with ****.

Q My chat bot doesn't seem to work! Is the server incompatible with my bot?
A Ouka Chat is compatible with most bots. However, the colours must be disabled. Do so with the /bot-command or the #ATSCmd MctOff-command.

Q A user was able to enter my room with a completely different name than i have named my room, what is going on?!
A That is by-design in Ouka Chat Server. A user is able to enter the room with whatever name choosen, as long as the underscore and 12 numbers are intact and as long as it dont exceed 100 characters in total.

Q My ChatStartup.txt contains "#UserCmd WriteMessage" in front of all the commands, what are they for and will it do any harm if i remove them?
A As described here it will only conceal the actual command from being displayed. Removing them will only display the command and nothing will be broken.

Q Some users are telling me they cannot enter when they have spesific characters in their nickname, what can i do to help?
A I most cases this is caused by users already in your room. Most often, the error appear when a user with only a single character as their nickname, like $123_45678, is present in channel. Most likely, no user with $ as the first character in nickname will be able to enter.
Solution: Rename the user with the single character and tell others they should use names with more than one character.

Q Some users in may room are using other colour codes not supported by my room server and makes the nickname unreadable in the chat. How can i fix the problem?
A Make changes in your RCMSconf.txt to replace the non-compatible colour codes with working colour codes. Then Activate TextReplace.
